Do You Have Blood Cancer? The Wellness Community Offers Support.
THE WELLNESS COMMUNITY is offering one-on-one counseling of up to three sessions at no cost to any person recently diagnosed with a new or recurrent blood cancer (lymphoma, leukemia or multiple myeloma). Through a pilot study called ENACCTing Wellness, a licensed clinical social worker will help you explore your options and concerns and provide decision support as you prepare to meet with a hematologist/oncologist. We believe that individual counseling will help you plan for your medical appointments and help you gain confidence to ask more questions - to help ensure that your treatment decisions fit your personal objectives.
To schedule an appointment, please call Kathleen Coyne, LCSW, Program Director at The Wellness Community of Philadelphia at 215-879-7733.

ENACCTing Wellness is a pilot project funded as a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ENACCT (Education Network to Advance Cancer Clinical Trials) and The Wellness Community.

Veterans Against Myeloma, a growing team of veterans battling Multiple Myeloma
Our Target: Multiple Myeloma - a cancer of the plasma cells, a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow.
Our Goal: Win the battle against Myeloma - Find a Cure.
Our Plan: Join forces to support increased funding of Myeloma research and education.
Our Weapons: Teamwork, dedication, increased knowledge and aggressive research.
Why Vets? - Many MM patients are veterans. As servicemen and women, when we left the service we thought that facing early death was a thing of the past. But for those of us who have been diagnosed with myeloma, facing death is a part of our lives. What can we do about it? Against myeloma, our key weapons are knowledge and the best treatment based on the latest research. Our combined efforts to continue our service through the Veterans Against Myeloma cause can help research and help us win the battle by finding a cure. Hopefully one day together we can say "Mission Accomplished!"
*Join the team! - If you are a veteran with MM and want to participate as a team member/fund-raiser, contact Suzanne Battaglia at the International Myeloma Foundation.
You can reach her by phone at 1-800-452-CURE (800-452-2873) or by email at sbattaglia@myeloma.org.

Resource for Insurance Issues with Revlimid and Thalidomide
Celgene has set up a Patient Support Coordinator specifically for helping people get their insurance plans to cover treatment with Revlimid and Thalidomide. This is not the program for people with little or no income/assets to get free drug from Celgene. This is a group that works as advocates with the insurance companies to get them to cover the cost of the drugs.
Celgene says that the group has been effective in getting patients covered when they have been refused. If you are having trouble getting coverage for these drugs, you may contact:
