Who coordinates the Miles for Myeloma 5K?
The M4M 5K is a regional (and annual) event coordinated and presented by the members of the Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group, the Central New Jersey and Northern New Jersey Multiple Myeloma Support Groups. Each of the committee members volunteer many hours of time and energy to make the event successful and fun.
Who are the beneficiaries?
Past beneficiaries have included the International Myeloma Foundation and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Financial Assistance Program for Myeloma patients and the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. Each organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for myeloma patients while working towards prevention and a cure. Most importantly, they continue to fund the most promising research initiatives worldwide and are committed to providing the most up-to-date and in-depth information about multiple myeloma to patients, caregivers and medical professionals.
Will Martin Luther King Drive Jr. be closed to traffic?
Yes, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is closed to vehicular traffic from 6 AM- 5 PM on the day of the event.
Where can I park?
Street parking is available in and around the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Ben Franklin Parkway. There is a public parking lot directly across from the front steps of the Art Museum, within Eakins Oval. There will be no access to the start/finish point by car as the entrance to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will be closed.
Are volunteers able to register and solicit pledges?
Yes! Volunteers are strongly encouraged to register for the event as well as solicit pledges for their volunteer time. For a list of volunteer opportunities, please click on “Volunteers” at the top of this page or email Cindy Chmielewski. A pledge sheet is available under the registration section of the website.
How do I make a donation if I cannot attend the event and/or wish to support an individual or team?
- Every year, the fundraiser establishes an online site through which you may donate to the event. Easy-to-follow links allow you to donate to an individual or a team.
- You may mail donations (checks only), from yourself and/or from other donors. Please ensure that donated checks are made payable to: PMMNG-5K, and include the appropriate name, address and phone number if the donation is to be credited to a particular person or team.
