Clinical Trials
Clinical trials are an excellent way to get access to state-of-the-art treatment. There is a common misconception that clinical trials are only for "last ditch" efforts when all other options have been tried. But that's not the case at all; many trials are open to newly diagnosed patients.
Moreover, clinical trials are essential in moving the science of treating multiple myeloma (and other cancers) forward. They are how new treatments progress from the lab to FDA approval. Several PMMNG members have been on trials or are currently on trials, and they would be happy to answer any questions you might have about clinical trials.
The National Cancer Institute provides a lot of good information about cancer-related clinical trials
