The International Myeloma Foundation (IMF) has announced that proceeds raised by PMMNG's 2016 Miles for Myeloma fundraiser will be awarded to the Italian multiple myeloma researcher, Nicola Giuliani, to support his research on bone disease related to multiple myeloma.
As many of you know, the annual American Hematological Society (ASH) is holding its annual meeting in Atlanta Dec.9-12. The International Myeloma Foundation's (IMF) social media team, including PMMNG's Cindy Chmielewski will be blogging about event.
Many of us in the PMNNG consider Phil Falkowitz to be a larger-than-life inspiration. Now we can say that that is literally true.
A mural featuring a likeness of Phil is being featured at ASH 2017 by Celgene. This is a truly fitting honor for Phil because he was one of the first multiple myeloma patients to participate in a Revlimid (lenalidomide) trial. Phil also serves in Celgene's "Ambassadors" program, helping to educate other patients.
Congratulations, Phil, on this tribute. And thanks for all you do as an advocate!
PMMNG member, Nancy Stewart, recently was named as the 2018 Philadelphia Light the Night Honored Hero.
Nancy was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2008, and underwent treatment to get it into remission. Then in 2016 she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). She underwent additional treatment that got the ALL into remission, but the Multiple Myeloma relapsed during that time. She is currently undergoing monoclonal antibody treatment for the multiple myeloma.

PMMNG members (and co-founders) Marilyn and Sharon Alexander were featured in an April 17 article in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The PMMNG's 10th annual Miles for Myeloma 5K Walk/Run was held on Saturday April 28, 2018 in Philadelphia. For the first time in several years, the weather cooperated, and we had a perfect day for the event. Myeloma patients, caregivers, friends, and family members came out to support one another and to raise money to go to research toward finding a cure for multiple myeloma. Together, we raised over $74,000!
PMMNG's Nancy Stewart has written a marvelous article, "Demystifying Meditation," about the role that mediation has played in her life. Meditation has been a key factor in helping Nancy deal with her multiple myeloma diagnosis and treatment, and, more recently, her Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) diagnosis and treatment.
As part of Amgen’s efforts to raise awareness about multiple myeloma through its Blood Counts program, Cindy Chmielewski and Maddie Hunter were recorded having a discussion at the StoryCorps pop-up studio in Federal Plaza, NYC on May 8, 2018. This 40-minute conversation focused on many elements of their jou
